New York City Sisters' Week-end
The Cutler girls sweep New York City-- what can I say except girls just want to have fun! We had a great first evening at Max Brenner's for dinner and on Friday we slept in!! Four tired moms at the Warwick hotel got a full 10 hours of REM, I do believe. Once we got up and got it together, we went to Canal street and shopped and shopped more. My friend Frances was in town and met us for the afternoon. We went to Bobby Flay's restaurant, Mesa Grill and had divine appetizers and yummy grilled entrees. Then we found our seats at Wicked on Broadway. It was so amazing and fun and thrilling to be there hearing those talented voices. On Saturday morning we went to the Manhattan temple and afterward walked to Central Park to have brunch at Tavern on the Green. I'd always heard it was wonderful and it was more than that... it was special with its crystal room and chandeliers everywhere. More afternoon shopping and lots of talking and catching up, solving the problems of the world and getting great ideas from one another. On Saturday night we stayed up again. I dragged myself out of bed and walked back to the temple but this time for sacrament meeting. The memorial day week-end street market was in full swing on 7th Ave. After picking up a few treasures we headed off to another broadway show, Mary Poppins. It was eye-popping and so fun. I always loved Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyck in this movie. The play was a pleasure. Afterwards we had to do a little celebrating of Eden's upcoming 40th birthday so we went to the Hard Rock Cafe for fancy drinks and appetizers. On Monday after Eden and Taryn left, Kennon and I went to ground zero on memorial day. I think it was a good way to spend our last hours there. We both remarked that it was actually reverent there. No one yelled or laughed or made much noise at all. It is a place of sacredness that evidently all Americans share and can appreciate. Lots of memories. We missed Shannon and Ashleigh so much. Next time. And trust me, there will be a next time.
